New Poll: Americans Demand Action on Waste, Fraud, and Abuse in Social Security, Medicare, & Medicaid
WASHINGTON – A new nationwide poll conducted by Arc Insights – commissioned by Vote 4 America – reveals strong voter support for tackling waste, fraud, and abuse in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, while preserving benefits for hardworking Americans. The survey of 1,000 voters highlights a clear mandate across the political spectrum to address inefficiencies in these critical programs and ensure taxpayer dollars are protected.
Key findings from the poll include:
- Waste, Fraud, and Abuse a Major Concern: 73 percent of voters say waste, fraud, and abuse is a problem in Social Security, 75 percent say the same for Medicare, and 79 percent for Medicaid.
- Support for Solutions: 72 percent support efforts to eliminate waste and fraud in Social Security, 73 percent in Medicare, and 74 percent in Medicaid.
- Cutting Spending Without Harming Benefits: 63 percent believe it’s possible to reduce Social Security spending, 63 percent for Medicare, and 64 percent for Medicaid by targeting waste and fraud—without cutting benefits.
- Criminals Stealing from Taxpayers: 71 percent of voters say it’s likely criminals are siphoning money from these programs, and 80 percent support jail time for those committing Social Security fraud.
- Protecting Taxpayers: 69 percent favor preventing illegal immigrants from accessing Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits, while 78 percent back cutting taxes seniors pay on Social Security benefits.
- Congress Must Act: 51 percent of voters want their member of Congress to support current efforts to cut government spending, with 79 percent of Republicans and 78 percent of Trump voters in favor.
Stephen Aaron, an advisor to Vote 4 America, praised the findings by saying: “These results send a powerful message: Americans are fed up with waste and fraud draining our safety net programs. Voters want practical, common-sense reforms to protect benefits for seniors and families while cracking down on abuse and inefficiency. Congress has a clear opportunity to act on this bipartisan priority and deliver real accountability.”
